Uru Tau / Riwai Ngapaki & Tuatara Mokena Scholarship
As Trustee for the Whānau Family Trust, Dr Matua Jansen is generously supporting our scholarship programme on behalf of his ancestors Riwai Ngapaki and Tuatara Mokena.
Award
- For study at certificate, diploma, degree or postgraduate level - also trades training and adult education.
- Applicants must show how their programme of study/research contributes to the business objectives or social deliverables of Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust.
- There is an expectation that the recipient will contribute to Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust during the term of their scholarship.
- The number and value of scholarships awarded is to be determined by the Education komiti.
Eligibility
- Be a registered member of Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust.
- Be enrolled with a New Zealand tertiary institute or training provider.
- Be a resident of New Zealand and have a current New Zealand bank account.
- Provision of confirmation of enrolment.
- Achieved a ‘C’ grade average or equivalent for previous study.
- Field of study must contribute to the core business objectives or social deliverables of Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust.
- Successful applicants must sign and return a funding agreement.
- Award paid out annually, 50% upon provision of official academic record indicating successful completion of semester 1, and the balance on provision of official academic record indicating successful completion of semester 2.
Other Requirements
- Applicants are required to describe their involvement in Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust’s kaupapa over the past 12 months and explain how the Trust can balance its economic, social and cultural objectives. The quality of these responses and the above criteria will determine how this scholarship is awarded. Refer to Te Pae Mahutonga for more details.
- Applicants studying towards S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) and business related programmes of study/research will be given preference in consideration of this award.
